Italian furniture design, the charisma of the object

Modern Italian furniture for an experience projected over time

With the activity of product design and custom-made furniture the scale of the project is reduced from the three dimensions of the space to those, measurable with a single glance, of the object. The creation becomes immediately ponderable and generates in the person the idea of possession and the global exploration possibility.
The process of design approach does not change, which for the creative team of Dome Milano Studio continues to involve technical and experimental inputs already part of the finalization path of interior architecture and interior design, but the experiential modality of the object, which can be explored in its concluded character and in its most hidden and profound characteristics in a finite time, without necessarily involving movement.

The creative mind of the interior architect investigates the material by making it take on the form that determines its content

The concrete and essential knot around which the product design activity revolves is material, understood as a set of structural, aesthetic and chromatic characteristics which, throughout the history of craftsmanship and industry they have been the subject of research, study and refinement of increasingly refined and innovative processing techniques.

These specific characteristics can be considered for product design as well as the peculiarities of the context which, for interior design and interior architecture, constitute a starting point for beginning the design process and they must be understood not as sterile constraints but as opportunities for active interpretation.

The evident veins of a precious marble slab, which interacts with the light through its smooth and perfect surface, the knots that tell the secular age of an exotic essence of wood, the ability of a metal to follow a shape through a series of folds can converge in the definition of an object for living that is always new, able to surprise and excite, as well as to respond to a specific function.
The genesis of the project, therefore, cannot take place except in close collaboration with those who have always made matter the protagonist of their ability, imprinted on the surface and on the core gesture after gesture: the craftsmen, who gravitate around the dynamic reality of the design studio as active collaborators, able to give effective and concrete answers to specific needs and requests.

For the development of the product design and bespoke furniture sector, the creative team of Dome Milano Studio has refined a set of analytical, creative and technical skills which, in addition to considerations in the field of aesthetics of the object, involve design factors related to the relationship between this and the person, first of all the ergonomics. These skills also form the essential basis of the dialogue between the product designer and the sector industry which, not surprisingly, is one of the most innovative and dynamic on the market.

To date, moreover, it is not possible to exclude the most current and mandatory requirements of sustainability from the design and construction process of the object. In fact, with the same technical and aesthetic result, the solution that has the least impact on natural resources is always preferred, minimizing the environmental cost of producing the object and placing it in a virtuous circle of potential recyclability at the end of its life.

The object of exclusive design, which brings together innovative material and technological characteristics, nevertheless proves to be able to inhabit a space, satisfying the most intimate and profound needs of the person, for a much longer period of time of a low cost product. This implies that the high quality of an object is itself an index of sustainability, not involving the need for frequent replacement due to rapid functional and aesthetic deterioration, but responding instead to long-term expectations and desires , generating a relationship of affection, and reliability with the end user.
